In August of 2014, I attended a Handmade Market with my friend Emma Madsen with Mugs Emporium in Calgary, AB. I knew immediately that this was what I wanted to bring to my community. With a little help from Emma, my dream came alive. Thank you Emma, I am forever grateful!
And so The Vintage Affair was born. The Vintage Affair is a handmade market that started in Montney, BC in December of 2014. With the overwhelming response from our very first event, we knew that a handmade market was definitely what this area wanted and we realized a much larger venue for our next event was needed. In May of 2015 we held our second event in Fort St John, BC. We are excited to be hosting an artisan market and as we grow, the one thing that will continue to be most important to us, is the success of our amazing and talented makers.
We charge a nominal door admission to our events and with donations of door prizes from our very talented makers, we are able to donate 100% of door prize proceeds to local organizations in need.
Come out and lose yourself in a sea of creativity while you support your local exclusive artisans!
In 2011 Tina was diagnosed with breast cancer and after years of treatments and to many surgeries to count, she is a breast cancer survivor, yayyy!!! Tina now lives her life according to a few of her favorite quotes “She believed she could, so she did.”, “I have decided to be happy, because it’s good for my health.”, and “Life is short. If there was ever a moment to follow your passion and do something that matters to you, that moment is now.”
Tina has always had a passion for handmade and out of her love for artisans she realized her dream of a handmade market. In August of 2014 she attended a handmade market in Calgary, AB with her friend Emma who was a vendor at a Vixens of Vintage Market. Tina soaked it all in and immediately upon returning home, her dream started to develop into a reality. In December of 2014 The Vintage Affair opened in Northern BC.
Her hope is that The Vintage Affair will help handmade artisans showcase their unique items in an exclusive handmade market and environment that caters specifically to them. She wants to raise awareness to the importance of supporting and shopping local handmade. Supporting small handmade business, supports families. After all, the love of families is what makes the world go around.
